did you know you can write to avoid writing
After months of writing at least once a day, I haven't updated this blog in over a week because I feel like I have nothing to say.
I'm working my way through Julia Cameron's THE ARTIST'S WAY, and as I do, things in my head are quieting down. It's not that I'm not writing. It's that I'm writing on the big projects I've always wanted to do. Those are going somewhere, instead of me rambling into the Web instead.
Anyway, some updates:
- The chickens have most of their first round of feathers and now only fit in my hand one at a time, instead of all three fitting at once. They are obviously transitioning from "run to mama because mama" to "run to mama because she's holding the treat bowl." Also, they know what the treat bowl looks like. I love them to death and I cannot wait for them to be feathered and large enough to move into the coop.
- My garden said "eat a dick." By which I mean the zucchini and cucumbers are coming in at an astonishing pace. I will spend a large chunk of the weekend spiralizing zucchini whether I want to or not.
- Related: cucumber raita is an excellent dish to make when one has PMS. It's not that the food has any curative properties, but making it involves pushing an entire cucumber through a cheese grater.
- I HAVE MONARCH CATERPILLARS AGAIN. THIS IS NOT A DRILL. My side yard full of milkweed usually has a few every year, and I am always thrilled to see them. I also saw a hummingbird in the garden today, and there is a nesting pair of wrens that likes to sit on the tops of the windows and yell at my cats.
So...yeah. Progress.
